The modern strawberry, fragaria x ananassa Duchesne, is of recent origin.
The Plant
The strawberry is a herbaceoues, perennial member of the rose family, Rosaceae.
The Fruit
Strawberry inflorescenes usually develope from terminal buds on the primary
growth axis and on branch crowns in the axillary position.
